Putin's invasion of Ukraine: Causes, Prospects, and Implications
At Synergy, we know it is important to be up to date on politics and strategy. This requires digging deeper into issues to increase our understanding and knowledge.
The Synergy Lecture Series has been designed to do just this. The lecturers we have partnered with are some of the most influential academics in National Security and International Relations. Join us for our second lecture series presented by guest speaker Dr Matthew Sussex. Matthew specialises in national security and strategic studies with a focus on Russia and Eurasia, great power politics and information warfare.
In this lecture, Matthew will examine the various triggers for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and assess a number of scenarios regarding the potential outcome of the war, from a maximalist Russian victory to a significant Russian defeat. Matthew will be discussing the possible impacts of the current conflict in terms of Russia’s future strategic priorities, especially in the Indo-Pacific, while also identifying preliminary lessons for Australia and key allies as a result of the conflict.
