Meet Our Board

Robert is the Executive Chairman of Synergy Group. After a 10 year career with international consulting firm, Deloittes, based in Sydney, Toronto Canada and Canberra Robert went on to form his own management consulting firm, Acumen Alliance growing this to over 400 people with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.

After a merger with the ASX listed IT company Oakton in 2007, Robert was an Executive Director on the public company board of the combined 1,000 person, Australian owned IT and management consulting firm.

After leaving Oakton in 2011 Robert joined Synergy Group when it was 25 people strong and played a key role, in collaboration with his fellow partners, in accelerating its growth to what it is today.

In addition to building profession services businesses, Robert has always remained active in the provision of consulting services having built a strong reputation and practices in the areas of ERP, shared services and IT and service costing and modelling.

Robert is passionate about “giving back” to the community and has demonstrated this through his support for Marymead Children and Families Charity, Board Member, Chair and sponsor since 2009 and the ACT Brumbies, foundation sponsor since 1996 and Member of the Finance Committee and Chairman from 2005 to 2018.

Lucille was on Synergy Group’s Advisory Board since January 2020 and agreed to become a Non-Executive Director in January 2022.

Lucille brings over 15 years Board experience contributing to major transformative growth decisions that have resulted in better services for citizens and careers for people. Lucille had a long international career with global consulting firms culminating as the EY Lead Partner for Asia-Pacific Government and Public Sector markets.

Lucille is a forward thinker with a track record for delivering results through turnarounds and transformational growth.

Lucille was born in Canada and brings a unique blend of Australian and Canadian public sector experience in policy reform, AI, data analytics, digital and citizen centric service delivery in health and human services.

In addition to the role with Synergy Group, Lucille also contributes at Board level to Calvary Health Care, Centrestone Capital and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

Martin joined the Synergy Group Board as a Non-Executive Director in October 2022.

Martin is the National Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Health Care (Australia), responsible for more than 18,000 staff and volunteers, 14 Public and Private Hospitals, 72 Retirement and Aged Care Facilities and a national network of Community Care Centres.

Martin joined Calvary following an exemplary 40 year public service career spanning a diverse portfolio of industry sectors in the Commonwealth, Queensland and New South Wales Governments. In the Australian Government, Martin was Deputy Secretary in the Department of Defence and then Climate Change, and then Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Martin’s last appointment was as Secretary of Health.

Martin’s public service career was acknowledged in 2012 with the award of the Public Service Medal (PSM). In June 2019, Martin was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to public administration at the senior level.

Martin is currently also the Chair of Global Access Partners Standing Committee on Health; a board member of the James Martin Institute for Public Policy and Research Australia and a member of Champions of Change Coalition.

Mark is an Executive Director of Synergy Group and Partner of Synergy Group’s Governance, Performance and Assurance and CFO Practices. Mark has been a Director and Board member of Synergy Group since 2008 after a 6 year career with KPMG which included Public Sector advisory services across risk assurance and CFO advisory.

Since joining Synergy Group Mark has been instrumental in building the firm and its financial advisory practices into one of the leaders in federal government. Mark is a trusted advisor to many of the senior leaders in the largest most complex government agencies.

In his role, Mark draws on his considerable experience in the delivery of CFO advisory services to the public sector, predominately in Defence and National Security, Human Services, Indigenous, Central Agency and Regulatory sectors.

Mark is passionate about assisting our client’s achieve their purpose by collaborating with CFOs to reform, adapt, modernise, and reform financial capabilities.
