The Defence Strategic Review (DSR) signals a fundamental shift in how Australia will defend itself in the future.

Although the public has only seen the unclassified version of the document by Sir Angus Houston and Stephen Smith, the plan outlines how the nation will have a "focused force" that fights within Australia and projects power into the Indo-Pacific region.

In simple terms, this means more long-range missiles, amphibious vehicles and resources to strengthen our northern bases, complementing our investment in nuclear-powered submarines.
